Mille Collines

The story of mille collines began in Kigali, Rwanda, in 2008.
It started when Antoinette, a Rwandan tailor who ran an atelier, and Ines, a Spanish design student, two women who shared a passion, met. They shared the same vision: a belief that by bringing together talent, innovative products could be created in Africa. Antoinette opened her atelier and team of artisans to Ines, who then created her first apparel collection there. This became her university graduation project. Shortly thereafter, Ines's friend, designer Marc, joined them in Rwanda, and the three further deepened the brand concept.
Then, in 2009, mille collines was co-founded by Marc and Ines. The journey of mille collines is unique, as it has grown by traveling through Rwanda, Kenya, and South Africa. This movement is a major characteristic of the brand, and production experiences in each country have had a continuous impact on its design aesthetic.
Currently, the brand's headquarters are in Cape Town, South Africa, and production takes place in Rwanda, Kenya, and South Africa. What hasn't changed since its inception is the unwavering commitment to "creating all products in Africa."
Combining traditional craftsmanship with unexpected materials, mille collines continues to respect the artisans who support the brand and celebrates the inspiration and cultural heritage that thrives across the continent. mille collines is a contemporary African fashion, accessories, and lifestyle brand.

mille Collines' goal is to produce 100% of all products in Africa, working with artisans, manufacturers, and storytellers across the continent to create products and stories that celebrate Africa and connect them with the global community. We believe that a world where every story is inclusive and every voice is respected is a better world. mille collines, born in Rwanda in 2009, has since grown further and is now based in Cape Town, expanding its market both within and outside South Africa.
